Mission trips
Why would you want to come with us to Uganda? Where do we start! Over the past 20 years we have been taking teams with us to Gulu in Northern Uganda to help in any one (or all) of our areas of work. Gulu is still a recovering town that had been at the centre of a civil war and our work is in helping to rebuild the future of this community. Team members have got involved with teaching the children in the Primary and Secondary schools, hands on building projects and painting classrooms, to everything from water bore hole construction to delivering babies – qualified midwives we hasten to add! We also see it as our mission and privilege to distribute food and supplies to the most vulnerable living in rural communities, preaching and teaching the word of God in a variety of settings, through to helping young people who have found themselves in trouble with the police. There is a ‘you shaped jigsaw piece’ in this incredible picture of rebuilding and reconciliation that only you can fit. So why not join us, it's one of the most life-changing experiences you will ever take.
Fundraising
Can you bake cakes, run a marathon, walk five miles, do a skydive, lead a quiz night or run any other fundraising event? We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us run fundraising events to raise much needed money for our projects in Gulu. So, whatever your passion is, help us to help others. Donate a well
In and around Gulu are communities that aren’t able to access fresh, clean water. Many families are drinking from local streams where cattle and livestock also drink, making the water contaminated with all sorts of diseases. We are working alongside the local council to build boreholes in the neediest of areas and to stop adults and children suffering stomach problems and ill health.
Host a speaking event
We would love to have the opportunity to share with you how our story began, and the incredible journey we have been on as a charity. Why not book a speaking event at your church, and hear how lives have been transformed through the work of Gulu Mission.
Sponsor a child
Sponsoring a child will not only change their lives and their families’ lives but it will also have an impact on the whole community. For many children a good quality education is out of reach, but with your support we can help to turn lives around one child at a time, to empower them and give them the skills and qualifications for a future with potential. Bethel Primary and High Schools are rated one of the highest achieving schools in Gulu district. For £20 a month you can provide a quality education, healthcare and 2 meals a day for a vulnerable child, giving them a hope and a future and helping to break the poverty cycle for future generations. You will be rewarded with the joy of knowing you are helping transform a life and a community and maybe one day you will join us on a mission trip to visit your sponsored child. 100% of the sponsorship we receive goes straight to the children at Bethel Schools. What do you receive? When you become a sponsor, you will receive an information sheet about your child, two letters a year, and an updated photograph, and the opportunity to build a friendship that could last a lifetime.
